visit the temples in and around mysore, here the tips to plan your trip with
complete list of temples, routes and timing,
Take or rent a car
- leave your doorstep by 5.30 to 6 am Sharply with parcels of food for lunch or
you don’t have time just leave it on the way to mysore road lots of highway
restaurants are there,

First one we
visited is Kabbalamma Temple near Kankapurra,
you can ply over
Kannakapurra road instead of mysore road because its nearer village from
kankapurra road,
1) Kabballama Temple, (TIME IN – 7.30AM)
Old village god which is very powerful & it was little
interior from Kankapurra main road with viewing of greeneries/silk net farm in
that village,
Temple timing 6am-8.30 pm
Catch Kabbula forest road connecting to channapatna highway that road end to mysore road by taking left and just by 7 km left side just after the Kanva reservoir
road you can find the arch of temple
2) Aprameyaswami /
Navaneetha Krishna Temple, Channapatna - Dodda Mallur (TIME IN - 8.45AM)
The Krishna temple is just after Channapatna,. Lord
Aprameya is the main idol and there is also an idol of Krishna(kid Krishna) -
when we went, he had a layer of Butter(vennai) as decoration(alangaram)
Timings - 8am to 12 & 5.30 to 8.30 PM
Just take opposite road to Navaneetha temple temple Crossing highway which
take you to next temple,
3) Nadi Narasimha Temple
(Time in 9.30am)
The temple is supposedly 1500years old - and it is a very
small temple - which has been renovated in the recent past. The main deity here
is Narasimha Swamy - with the prefix 'Nadi' , meaning 'a river'. There used to
flow a river around here which caused immense destruction to the entire place
and this idol was placed to secure the land from the wrath of the river.
The then Maharaja of Mysore was kind enough to grant this piece of land to the
temple.
Temple Timing - 8am to 12 & 5.30 to 8.30
Return back to Mysore Road again toward mysore, you can find
the next city called Maddur,
4 ) Ugra Narasimha Swami
Temple, Maddur (Time
in 10.15am)
The main deity here is Ugra Narasimha Swamy - with his eight
hands and wearing the intestines of Hiranyakasipu as his garland.I have NEVER
seen such an idol of Narasimha Swamy with such intricate work. Please do not
miss this temple for sure.
Temple Timing - 8am to 12 & 5.30 to 8.30
Just come out of temple, left side you can find the temple
called
5) Vardharaja / Alanatha
Swamy Temple & Pattabhi Rama Temple (TIME IN - 11 am)
The main idol is a treat to watch with beautiful carvings.
The priests narrated the story of the temple which goes like this : The then
King's mother lost her eyesight and the Astrologer/minister advised a visit to
Kanchi(Kanchipuram). King was unable to take his mother to Kanchi because of
her age and lack of eyesight; instead, the King got some sculptors form Kanchi
and constructed this beautiful idol. It is said that his mother got her eye
sight on the 45th day. (if you do visit Kanchipuram - the city of temples
- you can easily spot the sculptors and sculptur-schools all along the city at
various places)

From there just 10 min travel you can visit
6) Hole Aanjaneya Swamy
Temple, Maddur, Mandya (TIME IN- 11.40 AM)
Hole' in Kannada means 'river' (and hence Aihole??); and
since this temple is situated just along the banks of the river, hence the
nomenclature. This is again a very small temple. which is 400+ year old temple
for anjenyar(Hanuman)
Temple Timing – 7AM to 12 & 4 to 7PM
Outside road of temple connects directly to mysore road again, with
full swing in divine around us we rushing to Chamunid Hills to reach before it closing by 2pm,
7) Chamundi Hills -
Chamundeswari temple (Time IN - 1.15 Pm)
We Entered into special Dharsan which is Rs.30 ticket &
had a good dharshan quickly and came out for our next dharshan to

8 ) Bull temple -
Mysore (TIME
IN - 2.30 PM)
All time opened to air
You can have a rest for some time here and have lunch in one of
tree on roads to down hills
Warning - Monkeys are there which distrub you to plug something
from you while eating &
Please Dont litter your parcels paper or plasitcs, Help the nature & spots free from waste,
From there directly ply to outer ring road, Catch again

9 ) Nimishambha
Temple,SriRangapatna A Cuavery River side temple view (TIME IN - 3.45 pm)
Once you visited this temple, you can buy a good fresh
veggies & fruits, Rose Jam
Temple Timing - 6.30 am to 8.30 PM
Just speed up again your divine force & 15 min travel
from there to reach
10) Sri Rangnatha Swamy
Temple, SriRangapatna (TIME IN 4.30PM)
Ranganatha
Swamy Temple in Srirangapatna enshrines Lord Vishnu as Ranganatha.
It is said that the Ganaga chieftain, Tirumalaiya built this temple in 894 AD.
The Ranganatha Swamy Temple was later expanded by the Hoysalas, Vijayanagar
monarchs, Mysore Wodeyars and Hyder Ali. The architecture is a mixture of the
Hoysala and Vijayanagar styles. The temple has fort like walls and an
intricately carved Gopura in Vijayanagar style of architecture. The idol of
Lord Ranganatha is in reclining posture on the bed laid out by the serpent Aadi
Sesha is about 4.5 meters in length. The main entrance has Chaturvimsati (four)
pillars has the cravings of the 24 forms of Vishnu. There are many other
shrines like Ranganayaki, Narasimha, Sudarshana, Gopalakrishna, Srinivasa, Rama
and Panchamukha Anjaneya in the complex.

You can have lot of tea/coffee stall or bajji bonda shops
outside the temple, While catching the main road again you can have view of
Tippus Death place, just by passing the roads you can watch,
Then directly catch the main road, Take a Left road which
direct to you Melkote through Pandvapura, A sugar town you can smells all the
way of town the sugar, I remembered the sweet pongal (Chakra pongal) which we
use to prepare for all fesitivals, then Visit
11) Sri Yoga Narashima
Swamy temple, (TIME
IN 6.15 PM )
The majestic temple is dedicated to the Hindu
deity, Narasimha. The temple houses an idol of Narasimha in a
seated position with the Yogapatta. The temple is considered to be one of the
seven holy centres devoted to the worship of Narasimha. Apart from the regular
pujas carried out on a daily basis, the temple holds special pujas to celebrate
the Narasimha Jayanthi festival every year.
This temple is in hill top which you can take vehicle to some
extent, from there 250 steeped steps to be claimed,

Relax for some time here & have a view point & peace, then Visit the
13) Cheluvanarayana
temple - A Beautiful god narayanan temple ( TIME IN – 7.15 PM )
The Cheluvanarayana Swamy temple is a famous temple that has
more religious than architectural significance. Also known as
Thirunarayanapura, it is located on top of the rocky Yadugiri hills. This
shrine is very ancient, though the temple complexis just around 1000 years
old. This temple is a Vaishnava shrine, dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
This is an important pilgrimage site, especially for those belonging to the Sri
Vaishnava community.
